What is a Notary Public?
A Notary Public is an official authorized by the state to verify identities, witness signatures, and certify documents to prevent fraud.
What types of documents need notarization?
Common documents that require notarization include:
- Legal contracts and agreements
- Power of attorney (POA)
- Real estate transactions and mortgage documents
- Affidavits and sworn statements
- Wills, trusts, and estate planning documents
What do I need to bring to a notarization appointment?
You must bring:
✔ The document that requires notarization (unsigned)
✔ A valid, government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, state ID)
✔ Any additional required witnesses (if not provided by the notary)
Can a Notary Public provide legal advice?
No. A Notary Public is not an attorney and cannot offer legal advice or draft legal documents. They can only verify signatures and witness document signing.
Do all signers need to be present at the time of notarization?
Yes. All parties signing the document must be present and provide valid identification for notarization to take place.
Do you offer mobile notary services?
Yes! We provide mobile notary services and can travel to your home, office, hospital, or any agreed-upon location for your convenience.
Can documents be notarized online?
Yes! With Remote Online Notarization (RON), we can notarize your documents via secure video conferencing from anywhere.
How much does a notarization cost?
Our prices vary based on the service. A general notarization starts at $10 per signature, while mobile and loan signing services may have additional fees. [See our pricing page for details.]
What forms of ID are acceptable?
Acceptable identification includes:
✔ Driver’s license or state-issued ID
✔ Passport or military ID
✔ Permanent resident card
✔ Any government-issued ID with a photo and signature
Can I notarize a document for a family member?
In many states, notaries cannot notarize documents for family members due to potential conflicts of interest. It’s best to use an independent notary.
What happens if a document is signed before meeting the notary?
Most documents must be signed in the presence of the notary to be valid. If a document is pre-signed, you may need to complete a new one in front of the notary.
What if I don’t have a witness for my document?
Some documents require witnesses. If you don’t have one, we may be able to provide a witness for an additional fee. Contact us in advance to arrange this.
